National Popular Vote, a nationwide campaign to replace the Electoral College with a direct popular vote, won its 3rd state. Illinois Governor Rod R. Blagojevich signed the National Popular Vote bill on April 7th, following New Jersey and Maryland. Next up: Hawaii, whose House and Senate sent the bill to Governor Linda Lingle on April 2nd. |
This year marks 10 years of CLPI
promoting, support and protecting nonprofit advocacy and lobbying. Over
the past ten years CLPI has grown from a project of Independent Sector,
to an independent 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to encouraging
nonprofits to use advocacy to meet their missions.
On June 20, the Indiana League of Women Voters filed a lawsuit (League
of Women Voters of Indiana vs. Secretary of State Todd Rokita) in state
court, alleging that the Indiana law requiring voters at the polls to
show government photo-ID violates the Indiana Constitution.
