Voter ID - Iowa
If you registered by mail and are a first time voter in Iowa and did not provide ID with your mail registration, you will need to bring ID when you vote on Election Day.  Photo and non-photo ID are accepted - including a copy of:

  • Your current and valid photo ID (driver's license, passport, other government photo ID, etc)
  • Or a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or government document that shows your name and address
If you are already an Iowa voter, you do not need to bring an ID. But it is always a good idea to bring ID to the polls when you vote.

Registering on Election Day? If you are not registered and plan to register on Election Day, you must follow ID requirements on the Iowa Election Day Registration page.
