If you are a first-time voter who registered by mail and did not provide ID with registration application, you must have ID at the polls when you vote. Both Photo ID and non-photo ID are accepted. For example (but not limited to) - Driver’s license
- Passport
- National identity card
- Military ID card
- Employee ID card
- Student ID card
- State ID card
- Public housing ID card
- Copy of a utility bill; bank statement; paycheck; government check (e.g. Social Security, tax refund)
- Or other government documents with name and address of voter including a voter registration card, property tax receipt, or hunting/fishing license
If you are already a New York voter, you do not need an ID. However it is a good idea to bring ID to the polls when you vote. For more information, contact your local election office - link on right sidebar.
