Michael Weekes, Nonprofit VOTE Board Chair - President/CEO, Massachusetts Council of Human Service Providers
Michael D. Weekes is the president and CEO of the Massachusetts Council of Human Service Providers, the states' largest statewide human services association. Prior to his current position, he served as the deputy commissioner for the Massachusetts Department of Social Services. Michael was a founder of Massachusetts Families for Kids. He has served on numerous commissions and task forces focused on the human service, government and nonprofit sectors, including a former Board Chair of the National Council of Nonprofits.
Kyle Caldwell - President and CEO, Michigan Nonprofit Association
Kyle has worked in the public and private sectors including serving both Michigan Governors Engler and Granholm as the Executive Director of the Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC) and heading the ConnectMichigan Alliance an unique partnership for service and volunteerism in Michigan. Kyle serves on the boards of number nonprofit organizations including: National Council of Nonprofits, Independent Sector, Points of Light Institute, and Johns Hopkins University Listening Post Steering Committee.
Jeannie Fox - Deputy Director for Public Policy, Minnesota Council of Nonprofits
Jeannie has worked in direct service and advocacy with a variety of nonprofits and governmental agencies. She currently serves on the adjunct faculty for the University of Minnesota-Duluth master's program in Advocacy and Political Leadership and at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota. She's a Training Fellow for the Center for Lobbying in the Public Interest of Washington, DC.
Avi Green - Executive Director, MassVOTE
Avi Green is an experienced community organizer, campaign manager, and policy analyst. A native of Pennsylvania, Avi graduated from Columbia University, where he studied Religion. He went on to teach World Cultures and kindergarten to school children in North Carolina. Avi moved to Massachusetts in 1997, where he earned a Master's degree in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School in 1999. In 2000, Avi participated in the Presidential recount in Florida. He has served as Executive Director of MassVOTE since 2006. Avi currently serves as Chair of Mayor Thomas Menino's Election Advisory Committee.
David Heinen - Director of Public Policy and Advocacy, N.C. Center for Nonprofits
In his role at the Center for Nonprofits, David advocates on issues affecting North Carolina's nonprofit sector. He monitors and analyzes federal and state public policy, keeps nonprofits informed about important legal and policy developments, engages in research about the state's nonprofit sector, provides training on nonprofit advocacy and legal compliance, and convenes nonprofit coalitions. Prior to joining the N.C. Center for Nonprofits, David spent seven years as an attorney with a D.C. law firm that serves the nonprofit community, advising nonprofits on a wide range of legal issues. David is a graduate of Duke University and the William and Mary School of Law, as well as a member of the bars in North Carolina, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
Ashley Herad - Statewide Director of Public Policy, Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations (LANO)
Ashley Herad holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the State University of New York at Binghamton and a Bachelors Degree in Anthropology from Louisiana State University. Before coming to LANO, Ashley served as a press aid and researcher in the Louisiana Governors' Office. Over the last year, Ashley has served as the Housing Policy Coordinator for LANO and coordinated the establishment of the Louisiana Housing Alliance. She has participated in national advocacy training with Neighborworks, the National Low Income Housing Coalition, and in voter engagement training with Nonprofit VOTE.
Linda Nguyen - Director of Civic Engagement, Alliance for Children and Families
As its Director of Civic Engagement, Linda has created and currently manages a national program that has enabled thousands of community residents to become advocates, leaders, and activists in more than 40 communities across the country. Linda has served on a number of boards at the local and national level, including the YWCA and Young Nonprofit Professionals Network and the Management Assistance Group. Linda earned a BA in Social Welfare from the University of California at Berkeley, and a master's in public policy from the Ford School at the University of Michigan.
Marc Wetherhorn - Federal and State Affairs, National Advocacy Director, National Association of Community Health Clinics
Marc directs NACHC's national grassroots campaign efforts. He provides training and technical assistance to primary care associations and health centers on grassroots strategy and state-based policy issues. He also oversees planning and development for National Health Center Week. Previously, Marc managed a statewide grassroots consumer and environmental advocacy organization, including fundraising, community organizing and media relations.
