At their summer meeting, the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) unanimously passed a 5 year resolution – the longest their bylaws allow – in support of National Voter Registration Day (NVRD).
In its first two years, more than 1,000 organizations and 10,000 volunteers registered more than 357,000 people to vote on NVRD. NASS has endorsed NVRD since it’s inception in 2012. In 2013, more than a dozen Secretaries of State participated.
Today, the National Association of Secretaries of State released their statement in support of National Voter Registration Day as an annual event dedicated to encouraging Americans to register to vote. National Voter Registration Day is the fourth Tuesday of September, falling on September 23rd this year.
With this endorsement, National Voter Registration Day is officially on the calendar of democracy through 2019.
There’s still time to sign up as an NVRD partner. Forty-eight states and the District of Columbia have voter registration deadlines in October, making September 23rd the perfect time to ensure your community is registered to vote. Find your state’s registration deadline.
