We are pleased to announce Brian Miller as Nonprofit VOTE’s new Executive Director. Brian succeeds founder and previous Executive Director, George Pillsbury, who has transitioned into a senior consultant role.

A seasoned nonprofit leader, Brian has two decades of executive director experience and a strong background and track record in program management, organizational leadership, and civic engagement. He has specific experience growing and strengthening an organization after a founder’s transition. Most recently, he served as Executive Director of Boston-based United for a Fair Economy (UFE), an organization recognized for its sentinel work to raise the veil of growing economic inequality. Prior to UFE, he served 12 years as Executive Director for Tennesseans for Fair Taxation.

A south Louisiana native with Cajun roots, Brian started his career as a community organizer for Louisiana Citizen Action and Louisiana Coalition for Tax Justice before moving on to organize in Kentucky and Tennessee. Brian also brings extensive research and writing experience. While at UFE, he co-authored the book The Self Made Myth, with a forward by Bill Gates, Sr.

“Brian’s experience in the nonprofit sector and field of civic advocacy will serve Nonprofit VOTE well as we continue to build the capacity of nonprofits across the country to engage their communities in voting and elections,” said Michael Weekes, Nonprofit VOTE’s board chair as well as CEO and President of the Massachusetts Council of Human Service Providers. “His thoughtful leadership and vision will be an excellent asset as the organization moves into its next phase.”

Nonprofit VOTE is fortunate to have George staying on as a senior consultant to assist with special initiatives and to transition partnerships and relationships to Nonprofit VOTE’s new leadership. His perspectives and relationships will be extremely valuable to Nonprofit VOTE‘s continued success.

Please join us in welcoming Brian to the organization. He can be reached at brian@nonprofitvote.org. We are excited to continue working with you to elevate democracy by promoting Nonprofit VOTE’s mission of supporting and assisting all nonprofits in encouraging their staff, constituents, and communities to vote.
