- Eligibility to Register to Vote
- In order to be eligible to register to vote in Connecticut, an applicant must:
- Be a United States Citizen
- Reside in Connecticut
- Be at least 18 years old
- Not have been legally declared "mentally incompetent" by a court
- Eligibility for Ex-offenders
- Voting rights are automatically restored after the completion of sentence including parole. People on probation can vote. Ex-offenders should re-register to vote.
- Registration Deadline
- Voter registration forms must be postmarked 14 days before the election (by mail) or received 7 days before the election (in person).
- Election Day Registration
- In a Presidential Election only, you may register to vote at your local elections office on Election Day and vote a presidential ballot. Contact your local elections office to learn more.
