Voter Registration in Connecticut

Eligibility to Register to Vote
In order to be eligible to register to vote in Connecticut, an applicant must:
  • Be a United States Citizen
  • Reside in Connecticut
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Not have been legally declared "mentally incompetent" by a court
Eligibility for Ex-offenders
Voting rights are automatically restored after the completion of sentence including parole. People on probation can vote. Ex-offenders should re-register to vote.
Registration Deadline
Voter registration forms must be postmarked 14 days before the election (by mail) or received 7 days before the election (in person).
Election Day Registration
In a Presidential Election only, you may register to vote at your local elections office on Election Day and vote a presidential ballot. Contact your local elections office to learn more.
