- Eligibility to Register to Vote
- In order to be eligible to register to vote in Hawaii, an applicant must:
- Be a United States Citizen
- Be a legal resident of Hawaii
- Be at least 18 years of age or older on Election Day (Hawaii laws allow U.S. citizens to pre-register at age 16, but the individual must be 18 years old by Election Day to vote
- Pre-Registration
- In Hawaii 16 year olds may pre-register to vote. The registration will become active as soon as the registrant turns 18.
- Eligibility for Ex-offenders
- Voting rights are automatically restored after release from prison. People on parole or probation can vote. Ex-offenders should re-register to vote.
- Registration Deadline
- Voter registration forms must be received 30 days before the election.
