- Eligibility to Register to Vote
- In order to be eligible to register to vote in Illinois, an applicant must:
- Be a United States Citizen
- Have been a resident of the precinct for at least 30 days prior
- Be at least 18 years of age or older on Election Day
- Eligibility for Ex-offenders
- Voting rights are automatically restored after release from prison. People on parole or probation can vote. Ex-offenders should re-register to vote.
- Registration Deadline
- Voter registration forms must be submitted by or postmarked 28 days before the election.
