- Eligibility to Register to Vote
- In order to be eligible to register to vote in Mississippi, an applicant must:
- Be a United States Citizen
- Reside in Mississippi and be a resident of the county and supervisor's district for 30 days prior to the election
- Be at least 18 years of age or older on Election Day
- Not be found by a court to be mentally incompetent
- Eligibility for Ex-offenders
- In Mississippi all convicted offenders may vote, even while incarcerated, unless convicted of armed robbery, arson, bigamy, bribery, carjacking, embezzlement, extortion, felony bad check, felony shoplifting, forgery, larceny, murder, obtaining money or goods under false pretense, perjury, rape, receiving stolen property, robbery, statutory rape, theft, timber larceny or unlawful taking of a vehicle. If convicted of one of the 21 offenses listed, ex-offenders lose the right to vote for life, unless it is restored by the Governor or state legislature.
