Voter Registration in Montana

Eligibility to Register to Vote
In order to be eligible to register to vote in Montana, an applicant must:
  • Be a United States Citizen
  • Reside in Montana for at least 30 days prior to the election
  • Be at least 18 years of age or older on Election Day
  • Not be found by a court to be of unsound mind
Eligibility for Ex-offenders
Voting rights are automatically restored after release from prison. People on parole or probation can vote. Ex-offenders should re-register to vote.
Registration Deadline
Voter registration forms must be submitted by or postmarked 30 days before the election.
Election Day Registration
You may register to vote at your polling place on Election Day and vote a regular ballot. Contact your local elections office to learn more.
