- Eligibility to Register to Vote
- In order to be eligible to register to vote in Montana, an applicant must:
- Be a United States Citizen
- Reside in Montana for at least 30 days prior to the election
- Be at least 18 years of age or older on Election Day
- Not be found by a court to be of unsound mind
- Eligibility for Ex-offenders
- Voting rights are automatically restored after release from prison. People on parole or probation can vote. Ex-offenders should re-register to vote.
- Registration Deadline
- Voter registration forms must be submitted by or postmarked 30 days before the election.
- Election Day Registration
- You may register to vote at your polling place on Election Day and vote a regular ballot. Contact your local elections office to learn more.
