- Eligibility to Register to Vote
- In order to be eligible to register to vote in Tennessee, an applicant must:
- Be a United States Citizen
- Reside in Tennessee
- Be at least 18 years of age or older on Election Day
- Not be found by a court to be mentally incompetent
- Eligibility for Ex-offenders
- In Tennessee voting rights are automatically restored upon completion of sentence, probation and parole, payment of all court-ordered restitution and court-ordered child support. Ex-offenders should re-register to vote. However, for certain crimes the right to vote may be permanently denied, unless restored by the Governor.
- Registration Deadline
- Voter registration forms must be submitted by or postmarked 30 days before the election.
