Of the 23.3 million voting-eligible Latino adult U.S. citizens, only an estimated 13.7 million are registered to vote.
To better understand the nearly 10 million unregistered potential Latino voters, NALEO Educational Fund engaged the research firm Latino Decisions to conduct a national survey and series of focus groups to uncover the reasons that voting-eligible, unregistered, but non-participatory Latino U.S. citizen adults remain unengaged and to identify effective strategies for registration and mobilization when approaching this community in future election cycles.
This community, which is often overlooked, and at times even dismissed, for its lack of involvement in the political process, collectively was identified as the “Great Unengaged”.
NALEO is sharing its findings through a quick tool to identify appropriate voter registration and get-out-the-vote messages for Latino voters, offering the most effective message, messenger, and medium. If you work with Latino populations, this data can help your nonprofit maximize the impact of your voter outreach efforts.
