This introduction to nonprofit voter engagement work covers the basics–voter registration, voter education, candidate engagement, ballot measure advocacy, get-out-the-vote efforts, and staying nonpartisan–while focusing on how to integrate these activities into services you already provide.
Featured Presenter: Erika Anthony is the Senior Director of Advocacy, Policy & Research at Cleveland Neighborhood Progress where she is responsible for leading and shaping the policy and advocacy agenda for CNP’s core areas (CDCs, Economic Opportunity and Placemaking). Erika is also co-director of OhioVOTES. She holds a B.S. in Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University and a Masters of Public Administration from the Maxine G. Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University. Lindsey Hodel is National Field Director at Nonprofit VOTE. Lindsey has more than a decade of experience in public policy advocacy, community organizing, and nonprofit civic engagement efforts in the West and nationally. Prior to her current role, Lindsey founded the Colorado Participation Project, a roundtable of direct service nonprofits engaged in client engagement programs. She has a degree from the University of Kansas and is currently pursuing a Masters of Divinity at Iliff School of Theology.
