NVRD in the UKIt’s National Voter Registration Day in the UK! Why February 5th? It’s the anniversary of the Reform Act of 1832 that first introduced voter registration to England and Wales.

The UK’s inaugural National Voter Registration Day is being organized by Bite The Ballot to encourage more young people to cast their vote in general elections. Bite the Ballot is a not-for-profit organization that is not affiliated with a political party and is working to empower young people to speak up and act, to make their votes and opinions count.

Research suggests that as many as 800,000 young people are missing from UK voter rolls. NVRD’s goal today is to use schools, businesses, youth groups, and community organizations to register 250,000 people.

Sound exciting? Well, luckily you can join the third annual National Voter Registration Day in the U.S. on Tuesday September 23, 2014.
