Nonprofit VOTE Releases Statement Renouncing Political Violence

“We believe the health of our democracy depends on people choosing participation over division, and nonviolence over violence”

Boston, MA: Today, the team at Nonprofit VOTE released the following statement:

“The tragic events of September 10 are a sobering reminder that violence has no place in our democracy. At Nonprofit VOTE, we work every day alongside nonprofits, philanthropic leaders, and community partners to strengthen civic participation. We believe that disagreement must never spill into violence, and that our best path forward is through engagement, respect, and a shared commitment to civic life.

With National Voter Registration Day on September 16, we encourage every organization and individual to channel this moment into action: to register, to help others register, and to reaffirm our collective belief that democracy is strongest when it is safe, inclusive, and participatory. Together, we can demonstrate that civic engagement—not violence—is the way we build the future we want to see.”

National Voter Registration Day will take place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. To learn more, visit here.

Nonprofit VOTE partners with nonprofits across the United States to help people participate and vote. By leveraging the vast reach and trusted relationships of nonprofits, Nonprofit VOTE aims to ensure all people are heard in our democratic process, particularly people currently underrepresented in terms of voting, including persons with low-income, people of color, and younger voters.

Nonprofit VOTE provides nonpartisan resources to help nonprofits integrate voter engagement into their ongoing activities and services. In addition to trainings and support for nonprofits nationwide, we run on-the-ground voter engagement programs through our Multi-State Field program and serve as the managing partner of National Voter Registration Day
