Engaging Voters with Disabilities

Last Updated: February 21, 2025

Read our Nonprofit Power Installment: Engaging Voters with Disabilities

Disability is part of being human. At some point, almost everyone will experience temporary, short-term, or permanent disability. A disability includes any condition that significantly impacts a person’s life activities. This can include matters of mobility, cognition, hearing, and/or vision. Any of these can impact the ability to vote in unique ways. If people with disabilities voted at the same rate as people without disabilities who have the same demographic characteristics, there would be about 1.75 million more voters.

In this resource read about how you can engage with voters with disabilities and accounts from groups that have worked with communities with disabilities. Click the link above to read the full resource.
